The gun being the one that Pete bought in the first episode, that I was expecting Lane to use as his suicide weapon.

Oh the VERY first episode, the hunting gun Pete bought and has been carting around ever since?

Yup. Bad enough that Don will blame himself for Lane's death, if he'd also killed himself with Pete's rifle they'd _both_ be blaming themselves...

Not quite the first episode; the one where he gets store credit for a wedding gift.

And yes, wondering what the effect on Don will be. Second man he's caused to hang himself...

His half-brother. Possibly end of season 1. Whose suicide parcel then is spotted by Pete and then eventually leads to Don's secret being discovered by Cooper and later Betty.

Don _really_ has to learn to reach out to people. You'd think that after Bert gave him a second chance (after that situation) that he'd be more open to giving on to other people. Especially someone like Lane who'd been so valuable to the company.
