:)

I realised with the wedding website, it was almost all static, but I was still really glad I was using rails, since it made it super-easy to reuse the same code in headers, etc. But of course, HTML is getting better too, I'm not sure if by now you can do that with stylesheets, or some sort of include directive?

Server-side includes are very good for re-usable but static components! No programming necessary.

As someone who loves JHW3's full page or double page layouts where the whole page is a work of art and you have to let your eyes follow that art, seeing first the full page then reading the panels as they flow, be it L-R top down, or L-R bottom up, or in an arc over the page, depending on the layout - as someone who loves use of the page in comics layouts, I'm actually sad that digital publishing is changing comics right now.

  • That's a Gigermobile, not a Batmobile.
  • One of the drivers of popular culture and its forms is technology. Not new, but the acceleration makes it increasingly obvious.
  • So "security" means paying M$ a hundred bucks not to use their crap! pigfuckers

the Giger car is fuck-ugly. Good call there

I eagerly await the next round of Windows antitrust nonsense. Every time I start to think MicroSoft are actually pretty decent, they pull something like this.

Hm, I think there are toolkits where the website is not handcoded per se, but code runs when the site is created or updated, and the output is the static html files etc for the site, giving the same advantage.
