Because while that wedding proposal was simply amazing, I really, really hope that she had already basically said yes, because otherwise that amount of pressure in front of family and friends is just unfair.

Presumably/ideally, most proposers already know what the answer will be, and the actual question/answer is a formality. :)

A formality deliberately intended to garner 15 minutes of interenet fame these days, I suspect, in some cases.

Only for the very creative ones. (Or internet notoriety, for those who inadvisably pop the question in a very public setting without knowing the answer in advance, like on the Jumbotron at a ballgame.)

In this instance (based on a number of comments by the actual participants posted elsewhere), yes was a formality.

I too queried the wisdom of such an approach (especially because of the undue pressure if she wasn't inclined to say yes in the first place). It could have gone horribly wrong.

Also, it appears that they are both associated with theatre; which explains the abilities of participants involved.
