Do you need help counting to 140? Then I wrote an app for you.

If, like me, you occasionally find yourself wanting to know exactly how long a piece of text is, because (for instance) you know that it will get reposted to Twitter, then you might find this tiny app I've written useful.

Run it, and it sits in the system tray. Left-click it and it tells you how many characters are in your clipboard. Hit Win+C and it does the same thing. Right-click it to get a menu that lets you shut it down.

That would have been incredibly useful a few times in my life.

Oh, I _was_ using Textpad, which gives me the length of whatever text I'm editing. But that meant changing windows. Selecting a piece of text and hitting Win-C is much faster.
