First, the silly - Bryan Singer joins the "modern takes on fairy tales" bandwagon with Jack the Giant Killer:

And this is what happens when you take a bunch of germans dancing to industrial and redub it with polka music:

Re: Industrial / Polka, many thoughts crowd my brain... One, I didn't realise people did not only wear stuff like this in Second Life. Two, zomg they actually walk around like this and dance in a "flashmob" style? Three, My goodness, they look so earnest...! Four, rhythm is rhythm. And five - I am so going to repost this... Thank you! :-D

I'd imagine that some of it might've taken place during some sort of festival for that, the bits in public, whereas a fair bit of it looks to be in fairly secluded locations.

And yeah, people still dress like that; I've got friends who do, and see it when I go clubbing a fair bit.

I live a sheltered life it seems (though admittedly, I have seen the more goth/industrial styles myself in an earlier life). However, with the gas masks and colourful dreadlocks and the more post-apocalyptic style, that I have only seen in virtual worlds - I guess it takes a lot more dedication to wear that in reality.

On the other hand, I would think nothing of walking around in Steampunk, so I guess it's simply not my tribe. :)

I feel like I'm playing jeopardy: if goth germans headbanging to polka is the punchline, what's the set-up? :)

Laughing at oddly-dressed Germans seems a very strong cultural trait among us Brits. If you look at British wartime cartoons' depiction of Germans, a lot of them play up the oddness of their uniforms. You also see it in more recent humour. Maybe Germans are naturally funny?
