Today is the 10 year anniversary of me creating my livejournal, after [livejournal.com profile] broin told me how awesome this new "Live Journal" thing was. You needed an invite to get in then, and I paid for a month's membership in order to bypass that. 10 years on, I'm still paying for my account, and very happy to do so.

It's also my 10,000th post. Which is a mindboggling number to me. Admittedly, a chunk of those were automated, but I've only been doing that since 26th September 2008, so it would be 8,800 posts even without that, which is 2.4 posts per day. For ten fucking years. Wow.

I've met a lot of interesting people through LJ, kept in touch with a few people that I might not have otherwise managed to, read a huuuuuge amount of awesome things, engaged in far too many arguments, and documented far too many things that would ridiculously embarass me.

I am still happy to be here, even if LJ is no more reliable now than it was back then, and still seems to be run by idiots far too much of the time. I won't be leaving until the last person on my flist stops posting here. You're a great bunch, and I thoroughly enjoy reading your posts and your awesome comments.

Will I be here in 10 more years? I guess that's up to LJ, and you lot. I'll definitely be posting somewhere, and I hope to see you all there!

Likewise - but it's reassuring to have a live, working, good alternative if the LJ balloon does go up.

it's been a real treat to be reading (and sometimes joining in the comments) here the past few years, from the flooring travails to the polls and to the fascinating links with their guess which one will get themost comments drinking game. will be reading for the next 10k or so. happy anniversary (and best of luck with the boiler repairs).

Woohoo! I only personally know two earlier (that I'm aware of) -- one of my sisters, and a mutual friend of hers and mine. :)

I believe Sister brought Friend into the fold, and the two of them brought me in. :)

You were one of the first people I discovered on LJ, and I look forward to your posts daily. Happy anniversary!

In March it'll be ten years for me, but I have nowhere near the record you do.

Congratulations and happy LJversary!

It's been great to read your musings and even better, you are my No. 1 interesting link source. Makes up for my cr@pness in ever coming to visit or managing to meet up when you are down this way.

Congratulations! Been a little over ten years for me, but under two different user-names, and I haven't used this one for anything except commenting in about three...

Thanks - wasn't fishing, though. Just felt bad in some ways that I've let this account languish. Looking forward to the next ten years, anyway, of both reading your posts and writing myself.

This time next year will be my 10th anniversary but I've only made 1,333 entries so far, although I've also posted on at least one community fairly regularly for a few years and of course those aren't counted.

I've made more new friends and had more interesting conversions on here this year than I have for some years thanks to you, so I'm glad you're here too. Happy LJ anniversary!

Although I'm now going to blame you that I've just spent too long reading my first 3 months of LJ entries and cringing, rather than finishing correcting the proof of my GCB paper ;)

*Laughs* I'd feel similar except that I realise all the silly mistakes I made around then are pretty much directly responsible for where I am now. And career disaster waiting to happen aside, I'm rather happy with things as they are.

Fuck you. I disagree with you and your friends (though have no interest in elaborating on my own position), and here is a deliberately inflammatory analogy to demonstrate my point.

Also you've posted a lot more sexualised photos of squid and octopi than I have on LJ. Surprisingly.

I joined LJ to read posts by an attention-seeking drama queen who I haven't seen online in about eight years. Luckily, around the time she left, I was lj friends with a lot of other attention-seeking drama queens.

So that went well.
