Anyone care to give me an etymology? Or even where they first got it from?
Some interesting stuff on the drugs one too.
I'm going to ignore the couple of people who would never touch anything whatsoever for the purpouses of the following.
All of you have used alcohol, large chunks of you have had bad experiences with it, but apparently this isn't going to stop any of you in the future. In fact, generally speaking it looks like bad experiences aren't enough to put people off of most drugs. LSD seems to be a case in point - most people who have tried it seem to have had at least a minor bad experience with it, but you're still all happy to give it another go. Seeing as that grouping includes me, I can't say that I'm that surprised.
I'm delighted to find that none of you think that Heroin is a good way to spend your time, unsurprised to find that half of you have taken cannabis, and amused to discover that several of you are unwilling to take amphetamines but just fine with cocaine. I'd love to be illuminated as to why there's that much of difference between these stimulants.

On the other hand, the same source lists "gack" as mucus...

Cocaine, believe it or not, when uncut with stuff, is probably more chemically "pure" somehow than speed, though I'm hard pressed to know why.
Heroin's just bad news. I only did it the once. I was seven, and I wanted to see where all the rent money was going, and why. Woke up in the hospital with my dad trying to explain to a nurse why there was smack in a seven year old.

Date: 2003-05-08 03:54 am (UTC)I’ve never tried H and don’t think I would. A couple of my friends have but only once or twice – and just a smoke. I’ve also experimented with pretty much everything else and find the main difference between coke and speed is that cocaine is just a better high. It’s a better high than E as well these days as E’s are generally quite smacky. I found when I was going through my speed phase that it gets you more paranoid than E or coke too and some people I know got a really bad skin complexion from prolonged use. Speed’s nasty.

Date: 2003-05-08 01:42 am (UTC)Coke is not as good value for money as speed - the effects seem similar but speed lasts longer.
Someone as dopey and lethargic as I generally am can find stimulants awfully tempting, but I have really tried to keep myself off that route. I suspect that if you could buy speed in Sainsbury's like you can wine than my drug use profile would have been worse. Well, except that I can't snort the stuff and it gives me stomach ache.
I'm currently avoiding all drugs, including coffee.

Date: 2003-05-08 02:40 am (UTC)Nah I can believe it. I had my annual sugar frenzy in Oslo (wine gums/plain chocolate/a cornetto type thing/muffin) and I have felt absolutely totally knackered for the past 2 days (for some reason Tuesday wasn't as bad as yesterday). I have had plently of sleep too.
