No, I could spot that. I just didn't really like pop music when I was a kid. It wasn't until I lived with Hal that I got converted to liking that kind of thing. Which may explain why I own a copy of Spiceworld.

And ah - I get you. =) I suppose I feel that pop music - really zeitgeisty stuff - should unsettle once you're past 30. It's not for you any more.

I made a couple of friends recently who were 20-ish and who idolise the music of the late 80s and early 90s. 'cept what they're actually idolising is all the stuff that made it onto compilation albums. Not the hundreds of atrocious SAW tunes, lame grunge, third tier hair rock etc.

Yeah, looking back at it there's awesome stuff from every decade, but lots of shite to go with it. It's much easier to love a decade with a filter to sieve out the best of it.

Not sure what the zeitgeist is at the moment. Not being paying that much attention to it (only album I've listened to recently from the last few years is the most recent Linkin Park one, having heard it was a big departure from their earlier stuff).
