Google emailed me this morning to tell me that I could swap in my current phone (A Pixel 4a) for a large discount off of a Pixel 6a. Which is nice, and would be very appealing, except that I'm totally attached to having a phone with a headphone jack.

Multiple people have extolled the virtue of Bluetooth earbuds to me. But the user experience seems:
1) Fiddlier, with having to think about keeping yet another thing charged, and occasionally coming to use them and finding them uncharged.
2) More expensive when I lose them - and with two kids in the house I lose things *all the time*, or discover that some kind of drooling beast has sucked off the rubber bits.
3) More of a faff when it comes to making sure I have headphones with me - I have 4 or 5 £10 pairs of earphones littered around the bedroom, in various jackets, and travel bags, plus an actual decent headset on my desk in the office*. So I can always find a set when I need one.

Moving to Bluetooth would mean doubling the cost of them, at least (and cheaper ones, from the reviews on Amazon, seem to have intermittent issues with connectivity), having to pay attention to battery life, and losing them more easily.

I really can't think of a good reason to do any of that.

I am totally up for someone pointing out what I'm missing though - feel free to try and persuade me, if you're sufficiently bored.

*Well, I did, 2 3/4 years ago when I was last in there. I suspect that they have now entirely vanished.
