Off to Vegas tonight, where there was much dancing. I was dead tired, and my body was being almost completely uncooperative. Not only was the physical tiredness meaning that my limbs felt dead and refused to do much more than just hang there or lock themselves together, but the mental tiredness made dancing to anything more complex than simple tunes nigh impossible. It was still fun, but would have been moreso if I'd got more sleep.

Tomorrow, off to Morag and Bexes, where I will hopefully see many cool people as they flit in and out of her flat. Having helped carry their new sofa up the stairs this evening, I at least know that there'll be plenty of places to slouch.

Meantime, bed.

"While, obviously, it is extremely unfortunate that this forest was raped, it should have known better than to show off its lush greenery and tall, strong trees in the presence of my client if it didn't want anything to happen," said lead defense attorney Dennis Schickle, speaking before a courtroom packed with members of the media. "It's only natural for any red-blooded American developer to get ideas in its head when it's presented with that kind of untouched beauty."

"The Pacific North Construction & Lumber Corp. had every reason to believe that that forest wanted it bad," said logger Victor Duffy of Chelan, WA. "Just look at where it was at the time of the incident: It was in a secluded, far-off place, nearly 25 miles from the nearest road. What were those trees doing in that kind of remote spot if they weren't looking for trouble?"

I emailed this to a few people, and when it turned up on their journal it seemed popular, so the rest of you now get it too:
Two people raise a lion cub and then returned it to the wild. A year later they go to see it - and you can see the moment it recognises them.

Southland Tales trailer here.

I'm intrigued, but not expecting a work of staggering genius. I liked Donnie Darko as a mood piece, but wasn't blown away by it as everyone else seemed to be.
