andrewducker: (how big?)
Someone phoned here earlier looking for Ed. Gave a name of "Graeme" (or possibly Graham). We're 99% sure that it's nobody that Ed knows. They claimed to be an ex of his, which is just nonsense. When I said that Ed wasn't in (because he wasn't) they got a bit abusive.

Since then we've had two phone calls from Chinese's asking if we'd ordered things. And a taxi just turned up saying "Taxi for Whelan". We neither ordered the chinese or the taxi.

The original call came from 07787598476.

If anyone can shed any light on this at all I'd appreciate it...

Edit: And that's four taxis now been. Am in the phone queue to the police...

Edit 2: Taxis seem to have slackened off. Have arranged a police officer to come round and take a statement at 10am tomorrow. Going off to crash with Erin/Padmini.

Back home again. Police have totally failed to show up. But no more strange phone calls or unexpected taxis arriving either.

Place is tidy. Going to throw myself into a shower in a moment, and then wait for the estate agent to show up so I can get this place on the market and get the hell out.

In other news, MSN is giving me errors when it tries to connect. I'm still happily on the livejournal jabber server though. Should you not already be using this I recommend you check out the incredibly simple instructions to get you onto LJ chat.

There's something about this kind of thing that just works for me. I never get bored of meta-fic.

I started off about 3:00, walking up to the bus stop with Ed, dropping in to book a badminton court for Ellie and I to play on and discovering that due to a cheerleading event they had no courts free until 9pm. We then bused into town and met up with Erin and Padmini at the huge annual book sale on George Street. I then walked Erin through town for a bit and caught up with the gossip (not that there was any), before then heading over to Ellie's to tell her the bad news about the court.

We decided to head to the cinema instead to see Mon meilleur ami (My best friend) - the new Daniel Auteill movie. I went on ahead so I could buy a badminton racket and a USB WiFi connector (in different shops). Turns out the difference between the £20 ones and the £100 ones is whether they are pure graphite or contain aluminium - I don't give that much of a damn, so went for a £20 one. Then to the cinema, where the film turned out to be touching, well written and well acted. Not the best film ever, but a rather nice comedy about a man who discovers that he doesn't have any friends and needs to get one quickly to win a bet. I'm sure the American remake will be out within the year, and be about half as good.

Coming out of there we decided to grab a bit to eat - and that the Auld Hoose was the best place to wander to. Which, being on the other side of the city from the Cineworld, meant a half hour walk to get there. The food was delicious, if terribly over-filling, so we walked it off afterwards by heading up Salisbury Crags and over to the parliament - Ellie hadn't seen it from above before, so that was interesting. We then walked up The Royal Mile and down North Bridge, where she turned left and I caught a bus home.

And now my feet ache and I feel like I've done quite enough exercise to sleep very well tonight.

Oh - also, the police turned up and told me there wasn't much they could do, but they'd record the incident in case it happened again. And the estate agent came over, got me to sign things, and tells me the place will be on the market next Tuesday. Amusingly the only ID I had that they would accept was a passport. And she got halfway through copying the details before I noticed that it ran out of date two weeks ago - and stupidly I mentioned this. Which means I now need to photocopy my work ID badge for her, as proof that I exist...
