Now that's unusual

I think it was johnbobshaun that pointed me in the direction of Concerned, a humorous webcomic set in the Half Life 2 world, made using screenshots from the game. 205 issues later it's over, with an actual emotional ending, It somehow managed to be both extremely funny in places and occasionally touching, mostly through combining absurdity and pathos in equal amounts. Should you have played HL2 then I highly recommend it. If you haven't then I suspect that many of the references will make no sense, but you can still admire the craft that's gone into it.
