Aug. 26th, 2002 03:43 pmI've spent the last week working from a laptop. I have nothing against laptops, and they certainly make working on the train a lot more, um, possible, but they just aren't desktops. I finally collected my PC from Stirling yesterday (thanks to Joe for helping me pack it all up, Scott for driving it through and Rob/Neil for moral support), and I just finished getting it all set up here (quick rundown of my cabling - VGA goes to the 17" monitor and the Elsa Revelator 3D glasses, mouse and trackball both plug in via USB, keyboard via PS2, rear and fore speaker outputs go to the 4.1 soundworks speakers, network cable is now laid under the carpet to the router/hub in the living room, parallell port goes to the Zip Drive. Soon I will hopefully have dual VGA out, and the second monitor will come into play). Everything actually seems to be working. Getting back o a trackball and a decent sized monitor is a sheer delight.
I'm just installing the latest NVidia drivers, and then I'm going to run some 3D tests. Oh, the delight.
