Someone asked on [livejournal.com profile] edinburgers where the best place to get a passport photo is. And I wanted to leave a note saying where exactly to find the place, having given people directions before and had them not find it.

And then I remembered Google Streetview - and so left this as a link to a streetview photo of the shop, with enough context to find it.

I mentioned this to Dave, who works with me, and he showed me the guest house he's staying in next week. On Skye. Where it's basically on a sheep track. I cannot believe the amount of effort that Google must have put in to get so much of the UK onto streetview. I'm very impressed.

Well, it had moments and moments, but overall, yes, definitely, and I think it could be lovelier still again.

Oh! I see! Joachim's comment. Yeah, not really. Not that I don't want to see it but E and me are still working through to get up to date, and as Joachim observes we don't actually have 'television' - just 'a television'. If you follow.

If you're really set on seeing DW though we can always hang out another time.

Aye, [livejournal.com profile] ms_entropy was doing voter registration in Boston in 2008, and used streetview to give directions to the polling station.

That's really cool.

Might request they come past our house again soon, it's beginning to look very dated.

I discovered yesterday that my parents' house in London is *not quite visible* on Streetview - it looks like they turned two different corners just in time to avoid it, and maybe only got half-way down their road before turning back or something.
