i'd say he's lumping bin Laden in with religious fundamentalists, not with christianity.

and re: benevolent: in context it's about the contrast between the 'peace dude' jesus and the bad-ass kung-fu jesus

The bad ass Jesus is at least as scripturally supported as the hippy.

Jesus spoke more about hell, and about the eternal torment and lake of fire he was going to visit on unbelievers, than he did about any other single subject.

This shit's been on my mind recently so I'm all up on the relevant facts & figures.

The ranter, i'd say, is referring to jesus' wrath at the moneygrubbing religious elite, and what he sees as people cringing at the sidelines.

Your point about Jesus cursing and condemning those not on (and impeding those on) god's path to redemption is good. It reiterates the rationale for those who bomb abortion clinics, perform self-flagellation, and beat left-handed people's left hands until they become right-handed.

Blaming the disaster that's hit Haitians, who happen to live on an island between two tectonic plates, for rejecting slavery has a basis in the Bible; there's plenty of instructions and warnings for slaves to obey their masters (Matthew 10:24, 1 Timothy 6:1-2, Titus 2:9-10, Colossians 3:22, etc). Jesus-- if he actually was as depicted in the Gospels-- is insane. So is Pat Robinson.
