The French did it first!

(I think I remember at least one article where the Friends of the High Line acknowledged the inspiration of the Paris park - there were a bunch of articles about it in the US east coast press this summer.)

In Chelsea Market, inside the building you can see high windows, now blind, which communicated directly to train freight cars for fast unloading. Hurray for architectural history!

Brilliant news about the dollar, although it certainly comes too late for people like my parents, who over the past seven years watched their earnings decline by something like a third while based in the Gulf. Very exciting.

The dirham is directly tied to the American dollar, so as the dollar fell, the dirham did too. It's been hurting everyone for ages. Perhaps it took this long for them to finally ditch the dollar because Sheik Zayed has always been loyal to the Americans and only died a couple of years ago.

I went for a walk a long the High Line park when we were in New York in June: it was wonderful being above the streets. I took lots of as yet unprocessed photos.

I really must write that trip up...
