It started working again last night for no good reason.  I'm currently hoping that it's going to carry on doing that for a bit.  But I'll keep a close eye on it.  Bloody electronic things.  They hates me, they does.

How much ventillation space do you have around its heat exchanger? Are the heat exchangers furred up with dust? Is air circulating?

Some years ago I had a fridge that periodically stopped working. Shifting it so that the heat exchanger had a better airflow, and cleaning the exchanger, got it going again.

Another possibility: does it have an auto-defrost setting, and did someone accidentally trigger it?

That's a good point. I don't think there's an auto-defrost setting, but the heat exchanger is a real possibility.
