I'm partway through the gender article, which is interesting and considered, but I'm slightly irritated by the way she talks about 'feminists' as though she isn't one.

I'm not sure that Germaine Grerr being crap about trans issues equals all feminists believing exactly what she does.

For the last few years I have generally done a fair amount of exercise (a couple of hours of weight training + running 10-30 miles a week), with a continued regime of weekend binge drinking. Enough to put me out of action for anything serious, for at least the entire next day.
I am fairly sure that as each Friday approaches I am down in weight on the week, which is put back on over the weekend by beer and kebabs. This annoying cycle has gone on ad infinitum and I guessed a long time ago that alcohol is the main preventer of me hitting any kind of ideal weight (ideal for what I'd like myself to look like for all the exercise I do).

For the next month I am continuing in my training for a marathon next April, while abstaining from all forms of alcohol/other foolish excesses. Obviously this means I'm liable to do _more_ exercise, but I think it'll show if alcohol has been what's been holding me back for...oooh...the last 20 years ;)

Knowing me, I'll still be eating the kebabs, but what good would this experiment be if I changed anything else.
