The one about productivity isn't a huge surprise. I'd been reading a Slate article about Unchaining Office IT, and how (among other things) freeing up filters and bans makes for employees who have more fun.

Plus, being the sysadmin at work is *glorious*. When a NAS box went down, I could install and teach myself some Linux to get it sorted. We can use some Google Apps to do some of our jobs better (and there's a big push to get non-profits into using cloudy stuff, as it's free). Just played some Quake Live, too. Killing Belgians during office hours is very good for my morale.
