Oh dear gods, yes. I have to have a clearout every few months which just means I have less icons and a "to sort" folder with all the junk thrown in it - kinda like a teenager's tidy bedroom where you daren't open the wardrobe in case the avalanche kills you :)

Yup. And my bottom left also has an OpenOffice set of files in it. Any idea if they can be deleted safely? It's a really daft idea to dump files on the desktop and not tell you what to do with them.

I'd forgotten, I upgraded to OpenOffice 3 last week, deleted all the old files. The new install files are somewhere in d:, I'll look at them when I can be arsed, I suspect they're all deletable.

I think IE does that too. Firefox seems to have defaulted to dumping them on my desktop though.

er, clearly I am weird cos I never keep anything on the desktop except shortcuts. First thing I do is change the default download folder. Or maybe I am just 'boring'...
