A look at what might happen next, economically. Fascinating, with a viewpoint I hadn't encountered before

I must remember this next time I'm holiday packing...

"The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers."

That's Linus Torvalds, if you're interested

Date: 2008-10-07 08:30 pm (UTC)a) It's worth noting that there are very few Warren Buffets available, both in terms of investment approach (willingness to take a medium/long view) and in terms of actually having the vast wads of cash on hand to buy stuff, and
b) That (tiny) pool of potential investors by definition won't spook easily, but they're not exactly going to be encouraged by seeing Buffet's stake in Goldman tank to less than half what he paid for it (last time I looked)
And my bet is they will eventually.
Eventually can be an awfully long time. Or not. Who knows? People who will be rich ... eventually.
