The difference between the "Most Emailed" and "Most Read" lists on the BBC News website. It always tickles me that people think "Oooh, other people would like X" but are actually interested in other things themselves.

Most read is likely to just have the best headlines. Many stories have interesting sounding headlines but are actually rather uninteresting when you read the content.

The "most read" are often about bowel cancer or Britney, I find.

The one about the family trying life without using toilet paper, goes on about a bunch of other stuff, and doesn't even end up explaining how they manage without it. Bah. I agree with the previous comment, about some things sounding interesting until you read them.

i wonder how they differentiate. "E-mail this to a friend" - do people actually use that? referer info from web mail services? would that not just be a subset of the 'most read'? how else?
