Having decided I couldn't be arsed playing with RoboCopy for synchronising [livejournal.com profile] channelpenguin's 40GB MP3 player with my collection I did a quick google and discovered Microsoft's SyncToy - which is doing an excellent job of working out what files I had already copied and just getting what it needs. If you need to keep two folders in synch then I recommend it.

Folder or File level & will it only work if mp3s have been ripped @ same bitrate or does it use filenames? I've got a 200gb library and a 150gb one that I'd really like to merge.

Off costume shopping now!

cygwin + rsync would be my natural choice there. It's rare for me to copy files at all with anything else. :)

Not 'insane', as such, but certainly 'stubborn'.

It is a useful piece of code. I use it to keep various pieces of writing stored across multiple machines...
