Badly written
Sloppily directed
Trite
Over-long
And sadly, rather dull for most of its length.
To add insult to injury, it also breaks the defining moment of Spider-Man's life - the death of his Uncle Ben. The whole reason why Spider-Man feels he has to make a difference at every opportunity is that the one time he let someone go they went on to kill his uncle. He fears that if he ever fails to action then someone will die and he will be at fault. So what does the film do? It changes the backstory so that his uncle died because some klutz got their arm jogged at the wrong moment. Which rates up there with Bruce Wayne discovering that his parents aren't dead, they've just been in hiding for the last twenty years...

Och well, at least Harry and Venom were sexy for a reasonable chunk of the audience.

Yep, that bugged me a lot. Plus, could they have hit us on the head with the message "the need for revenge will EAT AND DESTROY YOU" any more, do you think?

And bah, whatever happened to the "Cannot let Aunt May discover I'm Spider-man because then I'd have to tell her it's my fault Uncle Ben is dead, plus she hates Spider-man, so the shock would kill her and I'd have to die of misery and shame!" bit? Granted, it went on forever, but then the issue where she did find out was *so good* that it made it all worthwhile...

It was Amazing Spiderman #37/38, written by JMS. Amusingly, she'd assumed he was gay. Hee hee.

No no, I mean in the comics. But if she did find out in the films it just wouldn't have any impact by now.

it did make me laugh tho, I liked the naffness of his "bad turn", the way he became not so much goth (as per) but Emo, the lead singer from Fall Out Boy...a bit of eyeliner, a fringe, oooh, scary

but yeah, it did go on. The first one felt like good TV, this one felt like mid-season, mid series fair to middling TV.

Have to agree. We saw it last night and it was terrible, which was incredibly disappointing as the second one was great. Seems to be the way with trilogies - two good films and then the third always disappoints.

You realise some overtime-burning DC exec is going to use that idea soon, right?

I haven't seen it and haven't read under your cut, and all I've seen about this movie is bad reviews (except for one it'snotthatbad review), and while I am not a massive fan of Spiderman the comic book character, I can't believe it's quite so bad as everyone is making out.
