It's terribly amusing to be confounded by my own behaviour. I resisted getting an iPod shuffle on the grounds that I wanted to be able to choose what album/track to listen to next. And yet, now I have a Nano with 6GB of music on it, I mostly listen to it by pressing Shuffle. I mean, sure, I do listen to whole albums or selected tracks from time to time, but mostly I hit shuffle and then skip tracks I'm not in the mood for.

Which just goes to show that consumers frequently _don't_ know what they want :->

Guaranteed though, if you'd got the shuffle, you'd be desperately wanting to listen to an album! I'd prefer extra functionality that I rarely use than something limited...

I've got a three-year old iRiver (which, frankly, looks like a brick compared with current MP3 players) and I tend to listen on shuffle most of the time.

As someone with somewhat...eclectic tastes a just love some of the juxtapositions I get sometimes!

(when I put my iPod on random play, 40% of tracks end up being a random chapter of an audio book, or an old Radio 4 panel game...)

I presume the ability to be able to listen to tracks in order when you occasionally want to is pretty useful though.

I'm thinking that a cheap shuffly for occasional use might be handy in the summer. Not going to run out and waste money this month though :->

I resisted buying an IPod simply because of the branding and the fact that I object to large conglomerations taking over the world, so I got a Creative Zen Vision instead - which at least sounds more artistic and in tune with my world - I am not a Pod, I am a real person!

My last one was a Zen, and while I liked it, I wasn't blown away. This time round I was torn between a Sandisk Sansa and an iPod, but when I posted nobody could recommend the Sansa as nobody had one, so I went with the known quantity.
