This is actually a comic Nick sent me, and not the plot of Sunshine:


Sunshine was incredibly pretty, but sadly cliched in various ways. Conversation in the pub afterwards with ophelia_complex, ami_bender, 0olong, surliminal, marrog and thishardenedarm was less cliched but sadly not quite as good in the cinematography department.

I haven't seen it, but much like The Reaping (though not to quite the same horrifying extent).. even the trailer for Sunshine looked cliched and somewhat generic. When they can't even find non-cliched things for the trailer, I worry.

Worth seeing for the amazing cinematography. And the performances are all fine. If the ending was better then I'd heartily recommend it as a nice bit of hard SF, but it wears its influences too obviously and doesn't have anything new to say.
