Doesn't hit me so often any more. But if someone says "In 2000" I still think of it as a far-flung future year, full of flying cars, shiny catsuits and personal robots with their sarcasm circuits turned up to 11.

Having seen BSG mentioned on slashdot, I want to see it! Is it true that they're so annoyed with everyone, they even went and made momentum-conserving spaceships? :P.

I have the opposite trouble to your 2000-y-ness. I find 1999 to be 'next year', and 2005 to be ancient. Why is everything strange...

I totally know what you mean. I read 2001 A Space Oddesey when I was twelve. We're supposed to have space stations by now, dammit! Interestingly, we more closely resemble the monkeys.
