Nearly New Year Update

andrewduckerUp at 5am today so that I could leave my parent's place at 5:30, be at Exeter airport for 6:00 and catch a 7am flight back to Edinburgh. Which makes it somewhat galling that at 6:45 they announced that the flight was delayed and more information would be available at 7:30. Oh, to have that extra hour in bed...
I did have a nice relaxing time in Devon - played plenty of board games (my favourite was Puerto Rico, which involved juggling several variables and successfully selecting a strategy at the beginning which provided enough of the resources I needed at the different stages of the game), went on walks up on Dartmoor, at the local bird sanctuary and in the woods, and generally did my best to put back on all the weight I've lost over the last 9 months. I even discovered that my sugar tolerance is in better shape than it has been for about 4 years, which was nice, and corresponds nicely with the idea that losing weight is effective for insulin control.
Still, I'm looking forward to getting home again. There's a hungry cat waiting for her breakfast (I shall have to explain to Denver that FlyBe just don't care about her), then I'm meeting Lilian this afternoon. Tomorrow Ellie is up, and the 31st is currently planned in for John Wilson's party. Then back to work on the 2nd, and I can find out what decisions have been taken on the refactoring work without me there to guide them...
