I'm halfway through watching Buffy Season 6 and am being pleasantly surprised. I know I'm running a little late on watching this, but Erin bought me the season for my birthday and I'm only just back in the country again to watch them.
I heard lots of talk from people on how the season wasn't nearly as good as the preceding ones. This is so far confusing me totally. Even excluding the amazingly fantastic musical episode "Once More with Feeling", I've so far been impressed with pretty much every episode bar the opening 2 parter (which felt overly clumsy in parts, the demons not being interesting in any way). Since then I've had almost no complaints, the only thing I'd change is that following Willow's descent into magical junkiedom, she went from teetering on the brink to addict to wanting to reform far too quickly, I'd have liked this to be stretched over a few more episodes.
But other than those few minor niggles I've been very impressed with the whole Spike thing and with Willow in general, I've loved the fact that the season has been more focussed on the characters than on "Monster of the Week" and my only current concern is that when people talk about the season going downhill they mean the episodes in the second half.

I didn't like the fact that Willow talked about nosebleeds and headaches from spellcasting when we'd not seen any evidence of these.
