I would have chosen top 5 books, except that a lot of people don't read much and therefore don't even have 5 top books... and even for the people who do, its likely that I wouldn't be familiar with most of their favorites anyway.

"You can judge a man by his shoes" is clearly bunk but I find other people's bookshelves incredibly interesting. If they don't have books or only have very few, this also says things about the person they are.

I was about to say books, but then I thought, a person who has a top 5 web sites probably uses those web sites very regularly. Would tell you a lot about what they were up to.

I'm going with TV shows, because most people invest more time in a single TV show than in a single book, and because there's such a wide range of attractive TV trash that even an erudite person might slip and show his media whore side.

I'll say books, more than any of the other choices. Books force you to think and imagine, more so than other media, unless they're picture books. You can dream with comic books, but you already know what the people are supposed to look like. And I've met too many vastly different people to even consider video games. Websites are a bit ambiguous, that category should be divided even further.

Well, it depends entirelyabout what you want to find out, annoyingly :-p. My top five books would make you think "Oh, she likes melodramatic poetry and probably goes to SF conventions". My top five albums would make you think I was born about twenty years before I actually was and my top five films would make you think "She is obsessive about musicals, especially MGM ones and ESPECIALLY Howard Keel." So I really don't know.

I went for films though, becuase *my* top five films probably tell you more about who I am than anything else does.

Oddly enough, you can probably also tell a lot about a person by how they answer this question.

I picked films, because of my obsession with movies; I have taken to investigating others' video libraries, and the films they discuss as liking/not liking tells me so much so quickly. I assume book fanatics and music obsessives do the same thing.
