Shouldn't there be a "I know all about it but think it is a ridiculous idea" box?

If I was someone who didn't like it and had fundamental objections to it, I could do that. But if I'd read about it but just didn't care either way, the same answer would hold.

Actually "I care about the Creative Commons" is neither positive nor negative, so someone could tick -that- for liking and hating ;-)

you could include another tickable box along the lines of: i had a quick google having seen your poll, just so as not to appear ignorant, but im really no further forward and you and surliminal are mirroring each others themes to the extent that i suspect this poll is just a way to involve us in your relationship. I'd tick that one.

(alternatively: "and its all over-rated, baby blue", i might tick that, i would for most things)

DOH!

What is 'The Creative Commons'?

Current copyright laws bug the shit out of me, but Creative Commons can only be part of the solution... and much as I hate the status quo, I haven't quite brought myself round to putting all my work (photography, programming & writing) under a CC licence yet. I've been seriously thinking about it, but I rather like keeping track of what people are doing of my stuff.

Right now, I am being bugged by a guy with a site called Butterfly Station who wrote to ask if he could put a copy of Resonata on his site; then went ahead and did it before I had a chance to reply; and now that I have replied saying that's okay as long as he uses my full name and links to my site, is now refusing to link to my site, although he is crediting me by name. Resonata's fully copyrighted, so without a doubt what he's doing now is illegal, as well as somewhat obnoxious. I'm not sure whether a CC Attribution licence enables you to insist on a web link, or not, but this is one thing that has me unsure about using one...

I've thought about it. I figured I'd have at least one more try to resolve this without threats. His explanation of why he isn't linking is clearly bollocks, but may conceivably be sincere:

'I had in mind linking each author to his homepage but found it a
distraction, reasoning that anyone interested need merely google the name.'

Yeah, he's being a dick alright, I'm just not sure if it's out of stupidity/incompetence or active arseholery...
