Not at all. I have very firm opinions about many of these questions - they're just not all in a line with the political parties' opinions ;) I.e., I think big businesses are generally beneficial and should be rewarded for success. But I don't think that they should be trusted with watching out for the environment. Big business should watch out for their own success - that's what they're there for, and by being successful they can enable success on a smaller level - for their employees, for the people around them who profit from their employees' successes. Environmental issues are not their forte, and shouldn't be. That should be regulated by the government, and businesses should thrive within the boundaries set by the people in the form of the government. But that doesn't mean that I believe that their only social responsibility is to shareholders, either. They have a social responsibility to their employees, for example, and a moral responsibility to share some of their profits with less fortunate - which also benefits them from a business standpoint, in the form of community good-will. So just in this example, I have been back and forth across the political axis.

My answers are in. Interestingly, I've done that test a few times now, and my results have been roughly the same each time, with a slight drift leftward and Libertarianward over time (less than 1 point drift on either axis, though).

Not the result I was expecting... I've felt my political views sliding rightwards over the last few years but I still have some very strong views that are keeping me generally in the left and libertarian quarter. I got:

It's an American quiz. The Conservatives in the UK are politically on about the same scale as the Democrats in the US. So you're a rabid Tory here, but in the US you'd be a dangerous lefty, at least to the Republicans... ;-)

Nah, the reason I come out in the middle is becuase it averages out your answers. i have some really left- and really right-wing views, same libertarian / authoritarian, so it just averages them into the middle.

This seems to be an often overlooked situation, especially by politicians who like to over-simplify things to keep everything to lowest common denominator level.

Political parties usually believe in, or are against, privatisation of services which are historically government owned. I usually disagree with both sides, as I believe that essential things (eg. water) should be government controlled but that other things (liquor outlets, airlines) don't belong in government ownership.
