I woke up this morning alone in Lilian's flat - the first time in a very long time when there hasn't been someone else to think about, someone else to worry about, someone else, at the very least, snoring in the next room.

I wandered slowly from room to room, microwaved some breakfast, ran a bath, checked livejournal, soaked for an hour reading The Corporation (half of my Christmas present from Lilian), dragged myself out and then found myself plonked in front of the computer again.

I've been using the internet as a relaxation method - an escape from the other stresses in my life. Which means that it's been my default activity for the last couple of years. When I'm tired from work, tired of the stress or just want to get away from thinking for an hour, I bring up the various sources of new information and hit refresh until something takes me away from all this.

I've done that.

I've read it.

There's nothing there I can't live without.

Lilian's not answering her phone, I have no idea if she's back today, tomorrow or a week next Tuesday, nor any method of finding out.

I'm going round to Erin's to watch the second half of ROTK - Extended Edition.

After that, who knows?

(and yes, I'll be compulsively checking my email on an intermittent basis, just in case someone comments - it's what I live for, after all)

Hi,

Just to say there's someone thinking about you and L. from the other side of an ocean and a continent.

I'm commenting, but my life too is rather uneventful, so I have nothing interesting to say. Today my in-laws are coming to visit, so I expect to hear a lot about Jesus. Wish me patience and the ability to fake smiles convincingly.

Let's see... Glass of red wine? Check. Net connection? Check. Net Radio playing in background? Check. Do I own any of these things? No, they're me dad's. Won the lottery? No. Lady Supervixen with me? No, she's in Faifley. Strangely I feel sort of hollow despite the big dinner I had (coutesy of father again). On the bright side none of us got hit by a huge fucking tsunami so we're doing better than 8,000+ othr folks.

They're very nice people, actually. Just a bit ... evangelical. Shannon's step-mom, in particular, talks about God and Jesus as if they are close personal friends with whom she spends most of her free time. Shannon and I don't want to be rude, but we do usually try to change the subject.

I'm not sure if they even know that I'm Buddhist. I know they're aware that Shannon is Atheist.

Shannon's step-mom has told us a number of times that she prays every night that we will find Jesus.

I didn't even know he was lost.
