Birthday Nonsense
Aug. 8th, 2002 06:56 pmMr Andrew Ducker, on the occasion of his thirtieth birthday (such as is occuring on the 21st of this month August, 2002) has come to the conclusion that he is getting towards what is commonly referred to as old (said realisation being aid by the jovial witticisms of his associates and their constant reference of him as an "old bastard").
As such, he has decided not to engage in a party this year, such behaviour not being becoming of one of such an advanced stage of decay, but rather to have a "quiet evening in with a few friends". To ensure a suitable number of friends are present for the aforesaid quiet evening, you are all invited.
The quiet evening in will begin around 6-o'clock and continue until the last of my guests retires to their assigned sleeping quarters. Speaking of which, due to the somewhat cramped accomodation I've been reduced to, there will be a slight lack of places to sleep. Those of you who are under 5 foot tall (or double jointed backs) are welcome to sleep on the pair of sofas that the landlord so delightfully provided for our use. There is also a reasonable amount of floorspace, which will be allocated on a "first passed out, first served" basis. Those of you who wish to sleep on actual beds may wish to speak to other denizens of Edinburgh.
Penultimately, I should make it clear that the aforementioned quiet night in will actually occur 9 days after my birthday, on the Friday the 30th of August, this being the first day that I can ensure the presence of both of my siblings (and my mother, also).
And ultimately, you'll need my address, which is available here.
Oh, please, please, please don't feel the need to actually buy me a present. If you want to get me something cool, then sure, go ahead, but it's not mandatory in any way, especially as I've been completely crap at present buying this year.
