I mean, personally, I _like_ Stephen Donaldson. But it's still pretty funny.

My husband's comment: "When I was 14, I thought Lord Foul's Bane and those other books kicked ass. But I can't imagine picking them up now."

Me, I've never read Donaldson. But that website is a hoot.

The Thomas Covenant is actually a wonderful deconstruction of Tolkein. It mimics him very closely in many ways, while taking apart his mythos nicely. It takes the idea of the interloper (in a Mary Sue fashion) and makes them someone who (a) does not want to be there and (b) cannot allow themselves to believe, using this to first point out the inherent problems in the genre as a whole and then the necessity of fantasy in making our lives something more than chance and grinding banality.

But that's just my take on it :->
