If one of your jobs or hobbies involves communication with other people, then you need to read this commentary of Wiio's Laws of Communication.

While on the one hand they're quite amusing, there are some fantastic points being made there. If I didn't feel like shit I'd elucidate.

It is yet another misunderstanding of communication to think that its purpose is to convey information. It sometimes does (by accident, we have found), but that is only incidental to communication's real goal: to influence the behavior of others.

Just last night I was speculating that successful people are those who can argue and still like each other afterwards.
