Talking to myself
Apr. 28th, 2002 05:56 pmWhen I'm elsewhere and happen across something I want to read but can't (because I'm at work, in an airport, or whatever), I send the link to my 'at home' address.
I usually intend to go through them that evening, but it usually takes me weeks to get to them. Or in the case of 253 of them, never. I have items in there going back to June 2001.
So I'm finally going through them all, and wondering why on earth I thought half of them were worth keeping. And wondering how much I annoyed all my friends by sending them these links.
Go on Nick, say something cynical and witty about never reading them anyway...

Date: 2002-04-29 10:39 am (UTC)Links without reasonable explanation are annoying. If you can't be bothered explaining the link, it's for one of three reasons;
The site isn't that good
You're operating under time constraints
You're so excited by the site that you'd rather spend time on it, not type something about it.
Well, I never go to random links. I usually try to read through the links, and see where and what they're likely to be. So www.g0atporn.com will not make me at all curious. www.monkey-fight.com however, is more than likely to get a quick click through.
A single link, without even a signature at the bottom of the mail, I ignore. But even then, I'm worried that I'm missing something great. What if, instead of telling me about the unofficial ninja web page on MSN, Andy had mailed it to me, as a link, and nothing more??? I'd hate his guts.
So annoying links are fine. Annoying lack of explaining links are just reason for me to remove your testicles with a rusty spoon.

witty cynicism? A strange dearth of it
Date: 2002-05-01 05:43 pm (UTC)While looking for something else many moons ago (no, I'm not telling you what), I found a site which I had bookmarked at some long-lost time before. It was a superheroine fetish site, where some enthusiastic young lady with a liking for being tied up had taken photos of herself and then -drawn in- superheroine costumes onto herself. It wasn't very exciting.. but was just kinda cool, I guess. I don't remember finding it, or bookmarking it... so it was a nice surprise.
