Unbelievably, not only are they going to release Kill Bill as two separate DVDs, Quentin Tarantino seems to be actively in favour of them taking all of our money.

In this month's Empire he says "We'll have separate DVDs for Vols 1 and 2 and I'll do special stuff for each. Then we'll come up with a big version with them both together, but I won't repeat the special stuff I put on Vols 1 and 2... I might do some other little movie thing just to go on that special double feature version."

What's that Mr Tarantino? You want to charge us twice for the same material if we're interested in getting a decent set of extras?

On the other hand, New Line and Peter Jackson have both said that without a doubt there will NOT be an extra-super-special-beyond-belief-5-hour-extended-editon of the LOTR movies after Return of the King is done. And they've been up-front at the beginning about theatrical vs. extended editions to avoid being called moneygrubbing asses.

Well I can't say I completely blame him. He makes his last movie, in the form of Jackie Brown, with excellent directorship plot and dialogue, to be completely ignored by the movie going public and scorned for not having a shit load of violence, then follows it up half a decade later with a film almost empty of plot and fairly vacant of dialogue and with more violence than a man with a hyper-dimensional uber stick could shake said stick at to be hailed as a genius by the movie going public.

Tarantino then thinks "Holy shit, they are that vacuous, shallow and stupid. Let's fuck 'em".

As I said, can't really blame him.

Not that I didn't enjoy Kill Bill ;)

Waitaminute. So, you've already seen the movie in the theatre, and you're planning on buying it on DVD? If you're willing to be charged twice to see the same movie, why complain about the third or fourth time? : p

What I want to know is, why won't DVD manufacturers just sell the bloody movie! Never mind all the boy's toy's "extras"... do one volume, no extras, half the price.

And could they quit overcharging us, too?
