At university, my extended friends group had a saying that trying to organise the whole group to do anything together was like trying to push an octopus through a sieve.

This is the closest thing I've ever seen to a literal case of the metaphorical situation!

Even worse that trying to put a cat into a carrier!

That is completely adorable. She/he races over to swim into the basket, and then sends out tentacles of play and exploration. :)
