Huh, I didn’t think Britain was that good, but there are very few countries that are better. TIL!

The chart showing the reduction in death rate has big drops around 1990 and 2005 which made me think vehicle safety regulations deserved a lot of the credit; the article talks a lot about drink-driving and speed limits.

I like the more recent rules about forward and side visibility for drivers of heavy goods vehicles. I think we should apply similar rules to cars to discourage huge SUVs.

Completely fascinating. Interesting that Italy is relatively safe compared to the United States, not necessarily what I might have guessed.

Speaking as someone who walked away from a fairly serious car accident a few years ago, I'm extremely grateful that the UK has one of the lowest fatality rates.
