Next week I plan to try out a route from Waverley that doesn't involve many steps.

Quartermile One, I figure I'll just continue up Market Street a little then continue sharp left up the steep hill.

Up Market Street to the top of The Mound, and then straight down George IV Bridge to Forrest Road seems like the most straightforward route.

Aha, I hadn't realized it's George IV Bridge! Thanks, that makes sense, I'd been trying to discern its road name. I peer with interest at the streets far below and wonder about paths up and down. Well, mostly I try to dodge tourists actually. Aberdeen has a bit of elevated street stuff going on too.

I hate to think how hard it was to get around when the Royal Mile didn't have bridges connecting it in both directions!

But yes, Victoria Street will take you down to the Grassmarket at one end, and the road by Greyfriar's Bobby at the other end of the bridge will take you down to the other end.

All worth investigating if you ever have the spare time!
