7. Although trans people (straight ones at least- don't ask: it all got horribly complicated)) got marriage rights a little earlier in 2005 which is easily forgotten.

4) Badenoch compares the illogicality of a Tory-Reform merger/alliance with that of one with the Lib Dems. Ironic that some of her predecessors were very interested in an alliance leading to merger with the Liberals.
Also, if the difference between Conservative and Reform is evident in their names, it's ironic that in the early 20C, New Zealand's conservatives regrouped and chose the name Reform.

To be slightly cheeky, it's interesting to tie same sex marriage to devolution when the law changed later in Scotland than in England&Wales!

I also believe the Scottish bill had an easier passage, given the successful argument made for the E&W bill.
