2. Haha, the Washington State Ferries can teach those thrifty Scots a thing or two about construction delays and cost overruns due to special-snowflake specs! Not to mention restrictions on who is allowed to carry out the work.

In the state's defense, they've also been historically bad at building and upgrading overwater bridges (the first Tacoma Narrows Bridge, multiple floating bridge failures and cost overruns, etc).

We have one of those Dutch roundabouts in Cambridge. A lot of people complain (on NextDoor) because it is very different from all other roundabouts and they don't have the instincts for what they should do.
