#2: at first glance one is inclined to think "nice work if you can get it". But I bet playing videogames in the company of a child, in such a way that the child enjoys it, no matter what child (and it will usually be one you don't know well), is more challenging and harder work than it sounds!

With a sick child, who you also need to cheer up and be friends with. And not fall completely to bits when talking about whatever it is that has them in hospital long-term until they either recover or die.

I really don't fancy that myself, and an grateful to people who can do it.

I spent twenty years doing it with severely disabled and terminallly ill kids as you know.

There aren't the words. At least I don't have them. Well I have one. Malpractice. Or maybe just Murder.

So willfully contrary to the reality of pregnancy and childbirth. So uncaring of a woman's life, of the lives of her other child and her husband.

It's so alien to everything I think and feel doctors should do in this situation. Yes, I have rage towards those who put the doctors in that space. In the idiocy that means their own lives and those of their family possibly feel under threat.

It's ludicrous. It's tragic. I have literally no idea how to stop it.

Sadly, it is well beyond our power to stop it.

Hopefully at some point the US can do something about it.

Should we be supporting a crowd-funder to bring a legal case against the hospital and the state for wrongful death or similar ?

At least the one similar death in Ireland made them bring in a law allowing abortion.

I forgot to respond to this until today.
Re #2: in 1984, in Montreal, I was part of a group that tried to start a program to bring gaming (RPGs and what we had in the way of precursors to Euro-style board games) to hospitals, nursing homes, schools (possibly, prisons), and other supervised living environments. We had the idea that entertainment and education and cooperation could be combined and be helpful. It's good to know that something has come to fruition in this vein.
