I was not expecting a serious answer for 4 !

I should not have been surprised, since I know that given equal masses (not volumes) of red hot iron and ice, there should be liquid water left when equilibrium is reached.

Is there something "odd" about an iron ball cooling - does the inside cool as quickly as the outside ? It should since iron is a good heat conductor and there is a lot of outside and only a little inside, but does it ?
