4 - the guessing game is an interesting concept! I got today's in five guesses but that certainly involved surprising luck.

I think learning to do a binary search across the class of animals is going to take a while

Wikipedia was definitely a help, would take me a while to learn my way around the taxonomy.

When I was in uni I could classify any animal right down to family, sometimes genus. I believe I had to learn that for my biology course. Things will have moved round a bit in the intervening 30 years though (not least my neurons!)

This is a great trip through time. I think it would be interesting to see each of those animal photos placed on a timeline (like this recent xkcd comic) for when its form first appeared in Earth's history.
