5. I've been part of Can-Con's organizing committee in years past. Even on our much smaller scale, getting it just good enough has never been an easy thing.

Yeah, organising a convention always looked like a massive amount of work. Don't fancy it myself!

1. Distress at the appearance of plot points from the movies in what is otherwise a lark about the book. Book-Merry and Pippin didn’t trick the Ents into anything.

5. Wow, how much more difficult this job is in our new all-electronic days. In my day, when ballots were on paper, there was no coordination with registration software. Reg gave us a printout and we checked off voters by pencil. There was no nomination software; we used 3x5 cards. Preparing the software for the final ballot was just a matter of typing in the finalists’ names.

Yeah, it seems like an awful lot of work. And the fact that there isn't a standard piece of software, passed on from committee to committee seems ludicrous.
