D'you think it would help her to take a smaller leave? Would she be okay with the idea of say, a three month absence rather than the six? I really think just getting away altogether would be better, but hopefully part-time will help. Hrmmm.... Can any of what she does be done from home? I'm just tossing out ideas here. I'm sure you guys have a better idea of what might help.
If it is diabetes, she very much needs to watch the diet & exercise. If you don't have good info there (I've no idea if there's a good program for that in your area), we've got a great Diabetes Foundation locally. I'll be happy to ask them for some recommendations for Erin. (I don't have the URL handy, but they've got some very good recipes also if you're interested.)
