When the banker bonus cap was introduced, there was a lot of handwringing about "top bankers" leaving the Netherlands. But I never thought of it as a problem -- rather, it seemed like a solution to me.

Yeah. I'd be just fine with that.

Not that I'd expect more than a few to leave.

I have taken to sometimes using vendor contact forms to ask for the pocket dimensions before ordering something new. Alas, the answer rate is poor and the satisfactory-answer rate is poorer. :-(

For some reason, shops (and clothes makers) don't seem to have realised that many women would quite like to have pockets.

They have, but they don't care. It doesn't put women off buying their stuff, so why should they bother?

Love clothes with decent size pockets. My favorite dresses have pockets. And one reason I love my khaki capri pants that have side pockets. I can put a small wallet or a cell phone in these side pockets and don't have to always carry a purse.

The argument in favor of unlimited bonuses is that it allows compensation to be tied to company performance. This sounds lovely in a naive reading. The problem is that it glosses over the difference between short and long-term performance, and focuses attention strictly on stock price.

So basically, it strongly incentivizes behavior that provides short-term, short-sighted tactics that disregard stakeholder and societal impact. That might be good for stockholders who want to make a short-term killing, but it's iffy for long-term stockholders, and typically counter-productive for society as a whole.
