Can you unpack how that first one helped you, please, for help with my own experiences?

Re food, in my family, the person who either is genuinely full (me) or who is happy to make something else (husband) will use the Yidlish phrase "ess and ess!"

We had to tell younger kid that if someone else is hungry, they can't request putting aside leftovers, though.

It's not that it's helped me, but I see other people struggle to ever get out of the "must be polite" loop, and get stuck going back and forth. So knowing that it's actually useful sometimes to break the deadlock and get on with things is good advice.

The idea of Nitter as a service for users of Twitter. It seems that I've learned far too late about it to do me any good.

Ah, I only find it useful now that Twitter is blocking people from seeing more than one post if you link to it. When you want to link to conversations that's no use. Nitter gets around that nicely.
